Recently, in order to accelerate the process of standardization of domestic storage technology and improve the industry standard “Enterprise PCIe SSD Master Chip Technical Specification”, led by Inspur, PetaIO as the main authoring unit, invited Yunhaiguochuang, ZTE, Sugon, Great Wall, China unicom, Nanrui, and many other industry experts to participate in the offline seminar. The meeting was designed to further improve the line of standards, around the draft standard to carry out in-depth discussions. This meeting aimed to further enhance the line standard, conduct in-depth discussion on the draft standard, and finally form a draft for comments, laying a core foundation for the subsequent declaration of electronics industry standards.

The discussion of the “enterprise-class PCIe interface solid-state hard disk master chip technical specifications” provides requirements for enterprise-class storage systems. These stipulate performance, compatibility, reliability, security, stability, operation and maintenance, testing standards and other technical requirements applicable to the design, development, production testing and application of enterprise-class PCIe interface solid state disk master chip.

The discussion draft was prepared mainly by Peng Titanium Storage. During this seminar, experts engaged in in-depth discussions on various aspects of the technical specifications. Discussions covered main control chip performance indicators, interface standards, reliability of data storage, and security, among other key issues, which were carefully analyzed and exchanged. After several rounds of intense discussions, experts reached a number of important consensus, providing strong support for further improving the technical specifications.

With the explosive growth of artificial intelligence, cloud computing and other technologies, enterprise-class NVMe SSDs play a crucial role as core storage equipment in data centers, directly impacting the performance and reliability of arithmetic infrastructure efficiency. However, the current domestic enterprise SSD master chip has yet to form a complete standard concerning the unity of technical indicators, test and verification system, and ecological compatibility, which restricts the large-scale application of domestic storage technology and its competitiveness internationally.

Therefore, Inspur, together with PetaIO and other leading companies, are relying on their technical accumulation in the field of domestic storage to jointly draft the “enterprise-class PCIe SSD master chip technical specifications”. Through this discussion, collaboration between industry, academia, research, and use aims to promote the standard from “enterprise practice” to “industry consensus” upgrade.

Currently, the offline discussion has been successfully concluded. PetaIO, based on expert advice, is in the process of forming a draft for comment.

We sincerely invite more industry experts to contribute their wisdom and join us in this initiative to build and optimize the industry specification for enterprise SSD host chips, collaborating to foster the industry's steady progress. This initiative aims to strengthen China's competitiveness in the global storage industry chain while strongly supporting the country's strategic needs in digital transformation and information technology autonomy and control.
